On March 6, an officer responded to a Westport business on a report of larceny by a former employee, police said.
The business reported a former employee, Jaiman Shah, redeemed in excess of 2 million credit card points to make the Amazon purchases, said Westport Police.
The fraudulent purchases had been shipped to Derby, where he resided, police said.
After reportedly interviewing Shah and reviewing the transactions, the investigating officer submitted an arrest warrant application for Shah, which was later approved, according to the Westport Police Department.
On Monday, June 17, Westport officers responded to the Derby Police Department where Shah was being detained on the outstanding warrant, said the report.
Shah was taken to the Westport police department where he was charged with second-degree larceny, credit card theft, and receipt of money/goods/services by illegal credit card use, according to police.
He was released after posting $50,000 court set bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court Thursday, June 27.
